About Alteryx Designer
Alteryx Designer is a Windows app for building data workflows on a visual canvas, aimed at business analysts in finance, operations and similar teams. You drag tools onto the canvas to read data from files, databases and cloud warehouses, then clean, join, reshape and analyse it, with spatial and predictive tools available without writing code. Every step is recorded in the workflow, so a monthly report that used to be built by hand in spreadsheets can be rerun in one go. Code-friendly tools and SDKs let technical users add Python or R where needed, and recent versions add generative AI suggestions. Alteryx now sells it as part of the Alteryx One platform in Starter, Professional and Enterprise editions, billed per user annually, with a free trial. It's expensive next to free tools like KNIME or OpenRefine, and the desktop app needs Windows, so Mac users have to run a virtual machine.
Best for: Business analyst teams automating spreadsheet-heavy reporting without code, with budget for licences.
