About Cloudflare WARP (1.1.1.1)

WARP is Cloudflare's consumer app, distributed as 1.1.1.1 with WARP. It started as a fast DNS resolver and grew into a VPN-like service that encrypts your device's traffic and sends it through Cloudflare's global network using a WireGuard-based protocol. It is not a classic VPN for changing your location: it does not let you pick a country, and websites still see a nearby region, so it will not unblock streaming catalogues. What it does well is protecting traffic on untrusted networks and improving DNS privacy with very little effort. The basic service is free with no data cap; WARP+ is an optional subscription that routes through a larger part of the network for better speed. Business users get the same client as part of Cloudflare's Zero Trust platform, which is documented separately. Apps are available for iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux. It suits people who want free, low-effort encryption on public Wi-Fi.

Best for: People who want free, effortless encryption on public Wi-Fi rather than location changes.
