About Disk Drill
Disk Drill, from CleverFiles, is a do-it-yourself data recovery app for macOS and Windows. It scans internal and external drives, memory cards, USB sticks, RAID arrays and disk images for deleted or lost files, can reconstruct hundreds of file types by their signatures, and also looks for lost partitions on formatted or damaged drives. Recoverable files can be previewed before you commit to restoring them. Alongside recovery it includes free extras: Recovery Vault, which keeps metadata on protected folders so later deletions are easy to undo, byte-level drive backups, S.M.A.R.T. disk health monitoring and, on Mac, disk cleanup and duplicate-finding tools. It can also attempt recovery from iPhones, iPads and Android devices. The free edition scans and previews, and on Windows recovers a small amount of data; recovering more needs a paid PRO licence. It is aimed at home users and small businesses rather than forensic labs.
Best for: Mac and Windows users who want a guided app to undelete files and preview them before paying.
