About eOVPN

eOVPN is a small GTK app for Linux that makes it easier to use OpenVPN configurations, such as the bundles many commercial VPN providers publish for manual setup. You point it at a URL or local zip file containing .ovpn files, and it imports the list, lets you pick a server and connect, and can re-download the bundle when the provider updates it. It connects through NetworkManager or OpenVPN 3, so it sits on top of the standard Linux VPN stack rather than replacing it. The app is free and open source under the GPL-3.0, and the developer recommends installing it from Flathub. It is useful if your provider has no Linux app or you'd rather not install one, but it only handles OpenVPN, not WireGuard, and offers none of the extras of provider apps like kill switches or server load lists.

Best for: Linux users with an OpenVPN provider bundle who want a simple server picker.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Imports and refreshes provider config bundles from a URL or zip
  • Uses NetworkManager or OpenVPN 3 rather than its own VPN stack
  • Free and open source

Why people leave

  • OpenVPN only; no WireGuard support
  • Linux only
  • No provider extras such as server load or a kill switch toggle
