About EVE-NG
EVE-NG (Emulated Virtual Environment, Next Generation) is a network emulation platform that you install on a server or virtual machine and use entirely through a web browser. It runs router, switch, firewall and server images from many vendors, plus Docker containers, and lets you draw topologies, connect running nodes on the fly, capture traffic with integrated Wireshark and apply delay, jitter and packet loss to links. It is aimed at network and security engineers, training centres and companies building proof-of-concept labs. The paid Professional edition from UK-based EVE-NG Ltd adds multi-user roles, clustering, backups and up to 1024 nodes per lab, while a free tier is limited to a handful of nodes. The older free Community Edition has reached end of life. Like GNS3, it does not include vendor images, and it needs a reasonably powerful host with hardware virtualisation. It is built on Ubuntu LTS server, so it runs as its own appliance rather than a desktop app.
Best for: Teams and trainers who want shared, browser-based multivendor network labs on their own server.
