About Hash Suite
Hash Suite is a Windows program for testing how strong the passwords behind a set of hashes really are. It was made by Alain Espinosa, a contributor to John the Ripper, and is aimed at system administrators and security consultants who prefer a graphical app to a command line. It imports hashes from text files, live or remote Windows machines, domain controllers and offline Active Directory databases, and also handles WiFi WPA captures and encrypted Office documents. It uses CPUs and GPUs, supports wordlists and rules, produces reports and can force users with weak passwords to change them. There's a free edition that limits most passwords to six characters and watermarks reports, plus paid Standard and Pro licences with a one-time price. An Android version, Hash Suite Droid, is free. It runs only on Windows and isn't open source.
Best for: Windows admins auditing Active Directory passwords who want a GUI and reports.
