JetBrains Fleet has been discontinued. JetBrains stopped updates and removed Fleet from download on December 22, 2025.

About JetBrains Fleet

Fleet was JetBrains' attempt at a lighter, faster code editor that could switch into a smarter IDE mode using the IntelliJ code engine. It supported many languages, offered a distributed architecture for remote and collaborative work, and stayed in public preview for most of its life, free to use. In December 2025 JetBrains announced it would stop maintaining two overlapping product lines: Fleet stopped receiving updates and was removed from download on December 22, 2025. Copies already installed keep running, but features that depend on JetBrains servers, such as AI Assistant, may stop working over time. JetBrains later said Fleet's ideas evolved into Air, a separate agentic development environment. It is listed here because people still search for a replacement. Fleet users who liked its speed usually move to Zed or VS Code, while those who used its smart mode are better served by IntelliJ IDEA or the language-specific JetBrains IDEs.

Best for: Nobody new; existing Fleet users should plan a move to another editor.
