About K9s
K9s is a terminal-based user interface for Kubernetes. Instead of typing long kubectl commands, you browse pods, deployments, services and custom resources in a live-updating full-screen view and act on them with single keystrokes: tail logs, open a shell, port-forward, scale, restart, edit or delete. It tracks resource metrics in real time, includes Pulses and XRay views for an overview of cluster health and resource dependencies, shows RBAC rules and can check what a user or service account is allowed to do, and has a built-in HTTP benchmarking tool. Aliases, hotkeys, plugins and skins let you shape it to your workflow. It's a single binary for macOS, Linux and Windows, installable through Homebrew and most package managers. K9s is free and open source under Apache 2.0, funded by sponsorship. Being terminal-only, it suits people comfortable with the keyboard and offers no graphical charts or point-and-click setup.
Best for: Engineers who work in the terminal and want faster cluster navigation than kubectl.
