About LogMeIn Hamachi

LogMeIn Hamachi creates virtual private networks on demand so that computers in different places can talk to each other as if they shared a local network. It has long been popular with gamers for LAN-only multiplayer and with small IT teams for reaching office machines without changing firewalls or routers. Networks can be set up as a mesh, hub-and-spoke or gateway, traffic is encrypted, and admins manage members, passwords and client settings from a web console, including pushing the client to new machines. The client runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. Use is free for small networks of up to five computers; running Hamachi unattended as a service, or on bigger networks, needs a yearly subscription. It is not a privacy VPN for hiding your browsing, and its website and client have changed little in years, so newer mesh tools such as Tailscale and ZeroTier are the usual comparison.

Best for: Gamers and small teams who need a quick virtual LAN between a handful of computers.
