About Lunacy
Lunacy is a free graphic and UI design app made by Icons8, the company known for its icon and illustration libraries. It works much like Sketch or Figma, with artboards, components, shared libraries, auto layout, styles, prototyping and real-time collaboration through cloud documents, but it runs as a native desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux. It can open and save .sketch files and work on local documents offline, which makes it one of the few ways to edit Sketch files on Windows or Linux. Icons8's icons, photos and illustrations are built in and free to use with attribution; a paid subscription removes that requirement. The app itself is free with no ads or locked features. Its community, plugin ecosystem and third-party integrations are much smaller than Figma's, and teams that rely on dev handoff tools may find gaps.
Best for: Designers on Windows or Linux who want a free Sketch-compatible UI design app.
