About MX Linux
MX Linux is a desktop Linux distribution built on Debian Stable in cooperation with the antiX project. It is known for running well on both new and older computers, and for its MX Tools: a set of graphical utilities for jobs that usually need the terminal, such as installing packages, fixing the boot loader, installing drivers, making a live USB and remastering your own system into a bootable snapshot. It comes in Xfce, KDE Plasma and lightweight Fluxbox editions, plus versions with newer kernels for recent hardware. Unusually, MX lets you choose between systemd and the older SysVinit at boot. Every release runs as a live system from USB, with persistence if you want it. MX Linux is free and open source and maintained by volunteers. It suits people who want a stable, mid-weight desktop with handy tools, including those reviving older PCs; people wanting the newest software may prefer a faster-moving distribution.
Best for: Desktop users who want a stable Debian base with graphical tools, including on older PCs.
