About RustRover

RustRover is JetBrains' standalone IDE for Rust, replacing the older Rust plugin for IntelliJ. It combines rust-analyzer-style code insight with JetBrains' own analysis, so you get completion, macro expansion, refactoring, inline type hints and quick fixes, plus Cargo integration, a debugger, test runner, profiler and built-in tools for web, database and front-end work around a Rust service. It is free for non-commercial use, which JetBrains defines as work you are not paid for, such as learning, hobby projects, content creation and open-source development without commercial benefit. Commercial use requires a subscription after a trial. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Developers who already like JetBrains IDEs get a familiar environment tuned for Rust; those who prefer lightweight tools tend to stick with VS Code, Zed, Helix or Neovim plus rust-analyzer, which are free and faster to start.

Best for: Rust developers who want a full IDE with debugger and refactoring out of the box.
