About Scribe
Scribe captures a process while you do it, through a browser extension or a desktop app, and turns each click into a written step with an annotated screenshot. You then edit the text, redact sensitive parts of screenshots, and share the guide as a link, an embed, or an export to PDF, HTML or Markdown. Teams use it for SOPs, software training, customer support articles and onboarding, and its newer Autocapture feature builds guides from work people are already doing, with integrations, an API and MCP so AI agents can use the captured workflows. The free Basic plan creates guides from web apps in the browser; paid Pro plans add desktop capture, branding, screenshot editing and exports, and Enterprise adds SSO, PII redaction and admin controls. It is much faster than writing documentation by hand, but the output is a static guide rather than an interactive walkthrough inside the app.
Best for: Operations, IT and training teams documenting software processes and SOPs.
Pros and cons
What works
- Free plan for browser-based guides
- Exports to PDF, HTML and Markdown on paid plans
- Enterprise compliance including SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA
Why people leave
- Desktop and mobile app capture need a paid plan
- Pro Personal costs noticeably more per seat than the team plan
- Guides are static step lists, not in-app interactive walkthroughs on lower plans
