About Story Architect (STARC)

Story Architect, usually called STARC, is a writing app that handles several script and prose formats in one place: screenplays, TV series, comics, stage plays, audio dramas and novels. Each project keeps a shared story bible of characters, locations and worlds next to the text, so research and writing stay together. The free version already covers formatted script writing, title pages, loglines, treatments, import and export, and unlimited projects. The Pro tier adds corkboards, timelines, mind maps, character relationship maps and deeper statistics, and the Creator tier adds cloud sync, real-time collaboration and showrunner tools such as script breakdown. An optional AI assistant, paid for with credits, can rewrite, expand, summarise or translate passages. Pro is sold by subscription or as a lifetime licence, with a 30-day trial and a student discount. The app is open source and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with an iPhone version.

Best for: Writers who work across screenplays, novels and comics and want a capable free tier.
