About Textream
Textream is a free teleprompter for streamers, interviewers, presenters and podcasters on Apple devices. Its default mode listens through the microphone and highlights each word of the script as you say it, so the text keeps pace with you rather than scrolling on a timer. It also has a classic constant-speed scroll and a voice-activated mode that moves only while you are talking. On the Mac the script can sit in a small overlay below the notch, in a floating window, or full screen on an iPad over Sidecar; the iPhone and iPad version adds mirror mode for prompter glass and camera recording in which the script is not burned into the video. It is open source under the MIT licence and available from the App Store, GitHub releases or Homebrew. There is no team script sharing or cloud library, and word tracking relies on Apple's speech recognition, which may send audio to Apple depending on the device and language.
Best for: Solo creators and presenters on Mac or iPad who want a free voice-following prompter.
