About Typora
Typora is a Markdown editor and reader that hides the Markdown syntax as you write and renders headings, lists, tables, images, maths and diagrams in place, so there is no split preview pane. It is popular with writers, students and developers who want to work in plain .md files but prefer a word-processor feel. You can style documents with CSS themes, insert a table of contents, handle images with relative paths and export to formats such as PDF, HTML and Word. Files stay in your own folders on your own disk; there is no account or cloud library. Typora runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It used to be free during its long beta but is now a paid app sold as a one-time licence, valid on up to three devices, with a free trial period. It is closed source, and it has no mobile apps or built-in sync, so syncing files is left to tools like iCloud or Dropbox.
Best for: Writers who want plain Markdown files with a clean, live-rendered, word-processor-like editor.
