About Descript

Descript turns editing into something closer to working in a document. It transcribes your recording, and deleting words in the text removes them from the video and audio, which makes cutting interviews, podcasts, webinars and talking-head videos very fast. On top of that it removes filler words and retakes, enhances speech, keeps the active speaker centred, generates captions, translates and dubs, and offers voice cloning to fix mistakes by typing. An AI co-editor called Underlord can carry out multi-step edits on request. It also records screen and camera, records remote guests in Rooms, and supports multitrack audio for podcast editing. It runs as a desktop app on macOS and Windows, with a web version. A free plan lets you try it with limits, and paid plans are priced per person with monthly media hours and AI credits. For visually complex edits, its timeline is less precise than a traditional editor.

Best for: Podcasters, marketers and educators editing speech-heavy video.
