About Gajim
Gajim is a long-running XMPP desktop client, built by volunteers, that lets you chat on the open, federated Jabber network from Windows, macOS or Linux. You can sign in to any XMPP server, or create an account from within the app, and talk to people using Conversations, Monal and other clients. It supports one-to-one and group chats, file transfer, message history search, multiple accounts, and OMEMO end-to-end encryption, with plugins for extra features. Recent versions have a modern interface that resembles current messengers more than older Jabber clients. Gajim is free software under the GPLv3 and is funded by donations. It is distributed through the Microsoft Store, Flatpak, Linux distribution packages and installers for Mac. As with any XMPP client, the experience depends on your server, and it has no mobile version of its own, so you pair it with a mobile app.
Best for: Desktop users who want a capable client for the open XMPP network.
