About Google Classroom
Google Classroom is where many schools hand out and collect work. Teachers create classes, post assignments and materials from Google Drive, Docs and Forms, grade with rubrics and comments, and keep students and guardians updated, while students see their to-do list across classes. It is part of Google Workspace for Education, whose Fundamentals edition is available to qualifying schools at no cost; paid editions and add-ons bring extra security, analytics, practice sets and more Gemini AI features. Classroom is much simpler than a full LMS such as Canvas or Moodle: there are no complex course structures, competency frameworks or deep integrations with student information systems unless you pay for higher editions or third-party tools. It runs in the browser and in iOS and Android apps. It suits K-12 schools and teachers already using Google accounts who want an easy way to run classes.
Best for: Schools and teachers on Google Workspace who want a simple way to run classes.
