About Google Trends
Google Trends shows how interest in a search term or topic changes over time, using an anonymised, sampled set of real Google searches. Instead of raw search volumes it gives a 0 to 100 index relative to all searches in that time and place, which makes it good for comparing terms, spotting seasonality and checking whether a topic is rising or fading. You can break results down by country, region or city, compare up to five terms, filter by category or by YouTube, News, Images and Shopping search, and see related rising queries. A Trending Now page lists topics spiking in the past day. Marketers, journalists and researchers use it free with no account. It does not give absolute keyword volumes or competition data, low-volume terms show as zero, and the data includes statistical noise, so it complements rather than replaces paid keyword tools.
Best for: Marketers and journalists checking seasonality and whether a topic is rising.
