About iDescriptor
iDescriptor is an open-source device manager for iPhone, iPad and iPod, written in Rust and Qt. Connect a device over USB or Wi-Fi and it shows hardware and battery details, lets you browse photos and files, import the gallery, mirror the screen with AirPlay, set a virtual GPS location, check whether a cable is genuine and download App Store apps after signing in with an Apple ID. Backups are available but still marked experimental, and an SSH terminal is offered for jailbroken devices. It is a young project aimed at people who want a free, privacy-respecting alternative to commercial tools like iMazing or 3uTools, and it is one of the few such apps with a Linux build. It is free under the AGPL-3.0 licence, with no paid tier, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux; the Windows setup installs Apple's device drivers alongside it.
Best for: Linux and privacy-minded iPhone owners who want a free device manager.
