About KVIrc

KVIrc is a graphical IRC client built with the Qt toolkit and developed by a volunteer team since the late 1990s. It aims to give IRC a full desktop interface: multiple servers and channels in one window, themes and splash screens, a configurable toolbar, file transfers over DCC, and built-in tools such as a channel list browser and log viewer. It has its own scripting language, KVS, plus addons from the community, which makes it the closest open-source counterpart to mIRC's scripting. Because it uses Qt, it runs on Windows, Linux and macOS. KVIrc is free software released under the GPL 2.0 with an extra licensing exception, and the 5.2 series is still receiving maintenance releases. The interface packs in a lot of settings and can feel busy, and development moves slowly, but it is one of the few actively maintained graphical IRC clients on all three desktop systems.

Best for: People who want a free graphical IRC client with scripting on Windows, Mac or Linux.
