Data Studio, which Google called Looker Studio for several years, is a free web app for building reports and dashboards. You connect it to Google sources such as Analytics, Ads, Sheets and BigQuery, or to databases and hundreds of other services through community connectors, then drag charts, tables and filters onto a canvas. Reports can be shared like a Google Doc, edited together in real time and embedded on web pages, so it is popular with marketers and agencies for client reporting. The self-service version costs nothing. A paid Pro tier, billed per user and project, adds team content management, admin controls and support through Google Cloud. It is quick to learn and easy to share, but large datasets can make reports slow, data modelling is basic compared with Power BI, and many third-party connectors are run by outside companies that charge their own fees.
