About Network Radar

Network Radar is a network scanner and monitor for macOS from the indie developer Witt Software. It scans the network you're on with no setup, or a custom IP range, and lists each device with its IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, MAC address, vendor, DNS and Bonjour names, NetBIOS details and open ports. You can name devices, give them icons, and sort them into folders or smart folders. Beyond discovery it monitors hosts over time: you can set rules that send an email, play a sound or show a notification when a device goes offline or appears. A built-in toolkit covers ping, traceroute, port scanning, whois and Bonjour browsing, and you can open SSH, send Wake on LAN or restart a compatible Mac from the device list. Scans export to CSV, XML, TXT or PDF. It's a one-time purchase, sold directly and on the Mac App Store, and there's a separate iPhone and iPad app called Net Radar. It suits home-lab owners and Mac-based IT admins.

Best for: Mac users and small-office admins who want device discovery, monitoring and alerts in one native app..

Pros and cons

What works

  • Shows rich device details, including vendors, Bonjour names and open ports
  • Rule-based monitoring with email, sound and notification alerts
  • Built-in ping, traceroute, port scan, whois and Wake on LAN
  • One-time purchase rather than a subscription

Why people leave

  • macOS only; the iPhone and iPad version is a separate app
  • Needs macOS 13.5 or later for the current version
  • Paid, while Angry IP Scanner and Nmap are free
