About PeaZip
PeaZip is a free, open-source archive manager that creates and extracts compressed files on Windows, macOS and Linux with the same interface on each. It builds on the 7-Zip/p7zip engine plus Zstandard, Brotli, PAQ and other compressors, can open more than 200 archive types including RAR, ISO and ZIPX, and writes 7Z, ZIP, TAR, Zstandard, Brotli and its own PEA format. Beyond compression it adds strong encryption with optional password-plus-keyfile protection, checksum and hash tools, secure delete, duplicate finding and archive conversion. A distinctive feature is that any job set up in the GUI can be exported as a command-line script. Portable versions run without installation. It's licensed under LGPLv3, has no ads, and the developer says neither the app nor the site collects user data. Creating RAR archives still requires WinRAR, and the interface is busier than simpler tools.
Best for: People who want one free, cross-platform archiver with encryption and scripting extras.
