About Tencent Meeting

Tencent Meeting (腾讯会议) is the video conferencing service from Tencent, the company behind WeChat. It covers everyday video calls with screen sharing, recording, live transcription and an AI assistant that summarises meetings, plus a webinar mode for large online events and a Rooms product that turns a conference room PC into a meeting endpoint. A connector lets older SIP/H.323 room hardware join calls. It is the default meeting tool for many companies, schools and government bodies in mainland China, and its website and most support material are in Chinese; outside China, Tencent markets a related service under the VooV Meeting name. There is a free personal version with limits on group meeting length, and paid business and enterprise editions sold per account or through sales. Apps are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and HarmonyOS, and meetings can also be joined from a WeChat mini program.

Best for: Teams that meet with colleagues, schools or partners in mainland China.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Works well on networks inside mainland China
  • Clients for every major platform, including Linux and HarmonyOS
  • Webinar mode scales to very large audiences
  • Joins from WeChat without installing an app

Why people leave

  • Website, docs and support are mostly Chinese-only
  • Free version limits the length of group meetings
  • International users are steered to the separate VooV Meeting service
