About Ably
Ably is a managed realtime messaging platform. Its core Pub/Sub API lets servers and clients publish to channels over WebSockets, with presence, message history, guaranteed ordering, exactly-once delivery options and automatic failover across a global network. On top of that it sells purpose-built products: Ably Chat for rooms, typing indicators and reactions; LiveSync for pushing database changes to clients; and tools for streaming AI responses to users. SDKs are available for JavaScript, React, mobile platforms and many server languages, and the JavaScript client is open source. Pricing combines a monthly package with metered usage for messages, channel minutes and connection minutes; a free package suits proofs of concept, and enterprise contracts offer five-nines uptime SLAs. It runs as a cloud service. Ably is a common step up from Pusher when reliability guarantees matter.
