  • The median entry-level software plan costs $14 a month (1,172 apps priced in US dollars).
  • At least 39% of apps with verified pricing offer a free plan.
  • 14 days is the most common free trial (39% of apps that state one).

How we verify facts

  • Every fact on an app page (a price, a free plan, a licence, a platform) links to its source, usually the app's own website. A fact shows as verified only when our checker found the quoted text on that page, and we show the date it was checked.
  • We re-read those pages regularly. When a quote disappears, the fact is flagged until it's checked again; changed prices are listed on price changes.
  • Rankings use a published formula that treats every app the same. Nobody can pay for a position.
  • Spotted an error? Use the corrections form and we'll check it against the source. More on how we verify facts and reviews.
