About Atlas Vocabulary Builder
Atlas is a vocabulary app for iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs from a Turkish developer, Sayan Yazilim. It starts with a short proficiency test and places you on a level from Beginner up to Native-level (which it calls Super-Proficient), then follows a structured curriculum of curated words for that level, with quizzes, progress tests and module exams. Extra categories cover idioms, phrasal verbs, academic and business vocabulary, and exam lists for the TOEFL, GRE, SAT and IELTS. There's also a daily word with a short article and an illustration, a personal journal where you save and group words you come across, several exercise types (flashcards, gap-fills, definition matching, spelling and meaning-from-context), a spaced-repetition system, widgets, reminders and weekly challenges against other learners. An AI tutor answers questions about usage and gives example sentences and synonyms. It suits people who want a course with clear levels rather than a random daily feed, and its top levels go well past what most learner apps offer. The trade-off: much of the app is framed for people learning English as a second language, so native speakers may need to test into the top level to avoid easy material, and the store lists many overlapping subscription prices.
Best for: Learners who want a placement test and a level-by-level vocabulary course on their phone.
