About Bambu Studio
Bambu Studio is the official slicer from 3D printer maker Bambu Lab. It turns 3D models into printer instructions and is built around Bambu's printers, though it can drive other FDM machines too. It grew out of PrusaSlicer and is open source under AGPL-3.0. Projects use the 3MF format with multiple build plates, assembly views and STEP import, and it has tools for painting multicolour models that map each filament to a slot in Bambu's AMS feeder automatically. You can send jobs to printers over the local network or through Bambu's cloud, and monitor and control them from the app. It's free and runs on Windows and macOS, with Linux builds published on GitHub. Owners of other brands generally get more out of OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer, and some features rely on a Bambu account and cloud service.
Best for: Bambu Lab printer owners who want the tuned, officially supported slicer.
