About Bear Blog

Bear Blog is a minimalist blogging platform built and run by a single developer, Herman Martinus. Pages are tiny and load almost instantly, with no trackers, ads or JavaScript on readers' side. You write in Markdown, can style your blog with custom CSS or free themes, and readers can follow by RSS, Atom or email. There is a discovery feed where posts from across Bear surface, which gives new blogs some readers without a social network. Signing up takes seconds and the basic blog is free; a paid upgrade adds extras such as in-depth analytics on readers, referrers and devices. It deliberately leaves out comments-heavy social features, paid subscriptions and complex layouts. It runs in the browser. It suits writers who want a durable, lightweight personal blog with sensible defaults and room for CSS tinkering, and who are happy that it is a small indie project rather than a company.

Best for: Writers who want a fast, minimal personal blog without trackers or bloat.
