About BiglyBT

BiglyBT is an open-source BitTorrent client maintained by former Azureus/Vuze developers, and it keeps that lineage's appetite for features while dropping the ads and bundled offers. Beyond normal downloading it offers swarm merging to finish incomplete torrents, very granular rate limits (per tag, per country, per network or per peer), WebTorrent support, tags with their own rules, meta-search across sites, RSS and search subscriptions, and decentralised ratings, comments and chat. Privacy options include I2P support for anonymous downloading, VPN detection and routing some lookups through Tor. It can also play and transcode media and act as a UPnP/DLNA server for TVs and other devices. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, is written in Java, and is licensed under GPL-2.0, with no paid tier. The installer can migrate settings and torrents from µTorrent and BitTorrent. The sheer number of options is the main drawback: it is heavier than Transmission or qBittorrent and takes time to learn.

Best for: Power users who want every torrent feature, including I2P anonymity and media serving.
