About FileBot
FileBot renames and organises media files by matching them against online databases such as TheMovieDB, TheTVDB and AniDB. You drop a folder of badly named episodes or films into the window, pick a data source, and it proposes clean names and a folder structure that media servers like Plex, Kodi and Jellyfin understand. It also fetches subtitles from OpenSubtitles, downloads artwork, renames music by tags or acoustic fingerprints and photos by Exif data, and verifies checksums. Power users mostly run it from the command line: its scripting engine and the bundled automated media center script can extract archives, sort new downloads and refresh Plex without any clicking, which is why it's popular on home servers and NAS boxes. FileBot is not free software: you can download and evaluate it, but continued use needs a per-user licence, sold either yearly or for life, that covers every platform. Builds exist for Windows, macOS, Linux, Synology and QNAP NAS units and Docker.
Best for: Plex, Kodi and Jellyfin users who want films and shows named and sorted automatically.
