About Firebase Studio
Firebase Studio is Google's cloud development workspace with Gemini built in. It combines a browser-based code editor built on Code OSS with an App Prototyping agent that can generate a working app from a natural-language prompt, mockups or screenshots, then let you keep editing the code yourself. Workspaces run on configurable environments defined with Nix, can import repositories from GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, include web previews and Android emulators, and deploy to Firebase App Hosting, Firebase Hosting or Cloud Run. It was available at no cost during preview, with a small number of workspaces and more for Google Developer Program members. Google is now sunsetting it: new workspaces can no longer be created, and the company points users to Google AI Studio or Google Antigravity instead. Existing users should plan to move their code before the shutdown date.
Best for: Existing users finishing or migrating Firebase-backed projects before the shutdown.
