About Flowblade

Flowblade is a free, open-source non-linear video editor for Linux, released under the GPL3 licence and built on the MLT framework with FFmpeg as its backend. It is designed around quick, precise editing: a set of edit tools for inserting, overwriting, trimming and sliding clips, a timeline that keeps clips packed together by default, and keyframeable filters and compositors for effects and picture-in-picture. Titles, proxy editing for heavy footage, batch rendering and a range of audio filters are included. It supports whatever media FFmpeg can read on a Linux system, and it is distributed through Flathub and many distribution repositories. It is developed by a very small team, so features arrive slowly and documentation is limited, and it only runs on Linux. Editors who find Kdenlive too busy and want a lean, stable cutting tool on Linux tend to like it.

Best for: Linux editors who want a lean, fast cutting tool.
