About Font Manager

Font Manager is a free desktop app for Linux that lets ordinary users manage their fonts without editing fontconfig files or using the command line. You can preview and compare font files side by side, turn installed families on or off, group fonts into your own collections, and browse automatic categories based on each font's properties. It includes a character map, a Google Fonts catalogue browser for installing new families, and panels for user font directories, font substitutions and desktop font rendering settings on GNOME-compatible desktops. Optional extensions for Nautilus, Nemo and Thunar preview font files from the file manager and add an install option to the right-click menu. It is written in Vala with GTK 4, GPL-3.0 licensed, and packaged for Arch, Fedora (Copr), Ubuntu (PPA) and Flathub, though the Flatpak build lacks some features. The project itself says it is not a professional-grade tool, so designers juggling licences and auto-activation will want something else.

Best for: Linux desktop users who want a GUI for installing, enabling and organising fonts.
