About FontBase
FontBase is a desktop font manager for designers that runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It keeps your fonts in a root folder and activates them on demand without copying them into the system, so you can switch sets per project and leave the rest inactive. The free app covers browsing, collections, activation, Google Fonts as a built-in provider and a choice of themes and grid views. A paid subscription called Awesome adds auto-activation of missing fonts in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, full glyph browsing, a CSS playground, community tags, a property-based Super search, collection sync through a cloud drive such as Dropbox or Google Drive, and team licence tracking. Awesome is available monthly, yearly or as a one-off Forever purchase and can be used on two personal computers at once. The core app is promised to stay free. Its interface is built with web technology rather than native toolkits, which some Mac users notice.
Best for: Designers who want one free font manager across Mac, Windows and Linux.
