About GParted
GParted (GNOME Partition Editor) is a free graphical tool for managing disk partitions. It can create, delete, resize, move, copy, check and relabel partitions, and it understands a long list of file systems, including ext2/3/4, btrfs, NTFS, FAT16/32, exFAT, XFS, HFS+ and LVM2 physical volumes. Changes are queued and only applied when you click Apply, so you can review a plan before touching the disk. On Linux it installs from almost every distribution's package manager. For Windows or Mac machines, or for partitions in use by the running system, the project offers GParted Live, a small bootable Linux image you write to a USB stick or CD and start the computer from. It is a common choice for shrinking a Windows partition before dual-booting Linux or for growing a disk after cloning. GParted is free software under the GNU GPL with no paid edition; it does not offer the OS-migration or data-recovery wizards that Windows-focused commercial tools bundle.
Best for: Anyone resizing or reorganising partitions, especially when setting up Linux dual-boot.
