About MiniTool Partition Wizard

MiniTool Partition Wizard is a partition manager for Windows PCs and servers from MiniTool Software. The free edition handles basic disk work: creating, deleting, resizing, moving, merging and splitting partitions, extending the C drive, converting FAT to NTFS, checking file systems and testing disk speed. Paid editions add migrating Windows to a new SSD without reinstalling, copying whole disks, converting system disks between MBR and GPT, recovering lost partitions and deleted files, and a bootable media builder for when Windows won't start. A Server edition covers Windows Server. The interface looks like Windows Disk Management but lists pending operations so you can review changes before applying them. It is aimed at home users upgrading drives and at IT staff, and it only runs on Windows; Mac and Linux users need other tools. Pricing is a free edition plus paid licences sold per edition, with trials of the paid tiers.

Best for: Windows users who want to resize partitions or move Windows to a new SSD.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Free edition covers resizing, merging and FAT-to-NTFS conversion
  • Runs natively in Windows, so no need to boot from USB for most jobs
  • Paid tiers bundle OS migration and partition recovery

Why people leave

  • Windows only, with no macOS or Linux version
  • OS migration to SSD and data recovery are locked to paid editions
  • Installer and app push upgrades to paid editions
