About JackTrip

JackTrip began as an open-source research project at Stanford's CCRMA for sending uncompressed audio between musicians with minimal delay. JackTrip Labs now builds a desktop app and a hosted service around it. The app connects to virtual studios and includes VST and Audio Unit plugins, so it can work alongside a DAW or live performance setup. Joining sessions and running a studio on your own server costs nothing; paid managed plans host the studio for you and add HD video, more musicians, live streaming to YouTube, Twitch and Facebook, recordings, audio stems and backing tracks, with limits on session length and group size by tier. It is popular with choirs, ensembles and teachers. The desktop app runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Compared with fully free tools, the extra polish and hosting come with a subscription.

Best for: Choirs, ensembles and teachers who want hosted studios with video and streaming.
