About SonoBus
SonoBus connects a group of people so they can send audio to each other with very little delay, which makes it usable for remote jamming, rehearsals, lessons and podcast recording. Everyone types the same group name (optionally with a password) and the app links them directly peer-to-peer; a public connection server only helps people find each other. Each participant controls their own mix, latency buffer and audio quality, from uncompressed PCM down to Opus-compressed streams, and the app can record everyone and play a backing track to the whole group. It also ships as an AU, VST and AAX plugin so it can sit inside a DAW. SonoBus runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, is GPL-licensed and completely free, funded by donations. There is no echo cancellation, so headphones are needed with live mics, it has no video, and audio is sent unencrypted.
Best for: Musicians and podcasters who want free, direct, low-latency audio links without running a server.
Pros and cons

- Per-person control of latency and audio quality
Why people leave
- Audio is not encrypted
- No built-in video, so a separate call is needed to see each other
