About Memos

Memos is an open-source, self-hosted app for short notes, presented as a personal timeline a bit like a private microblog. You write memos in Markdown, add tags, tasks, links and attachments, and browse them by date, calendar or tag, with new memos private by default and the option to share selected ones publicly. It is a small Go and React app that you run with Docker or a single binary, storing data in SQLite by default or in MySQL or PostgreSQL, and it has an API for integrations. The software is MIT licensed with no licence fee, sends no telemetry, and only costs whatever your hosting does. Because it is browser-based, you reach it from any device, with community-built mobile clients filling the gap. The trade-offs are that you must host it yourself, there are no official native apps, and it is not designed for long documents or a structured knowledge base. It suits self-hosters who want a quick place to dump thoughts.

Best for: Self-hosters who want a private timeline for quick notes and thoughts.
