About MobaXterm

MobaXterm is a Windows application that bundles many remote-access tools into one window. Its tabbed terminal handles SSH, Telnet, rlogin, Mosh and serial connections, and each SSH session opens a graphical SFTP browser beside it. A built-in X11 server lets you run Linux graphical programs from remote machines on your Windows desktop, and sessions can also be RDP, VNC or FTP. It includes common Unix commands such as bash, grep, sed and rsync, plus network tools, macros and plugins. The free Home Edition is limited to a set number of saved sessions, tunnels and macros, while the Professional Edition is a one-time per-user licence that removes limits and allows customisation for company deployment. It is popular with system administrators and researchers who need X forwarding. It is Windows only, closed source and its interface is busy compared with modern terminals.

Best for: Windows admins and researchers who need SSH with X11 forwarding and SFTP.
