About SecureCRT
SecureCRT from VanDyke Software is a long-established commercial terminal emulator and SSH client used heavily by network engineers and system administrators. It organises large numbers of sessions in a tree, connects over SSH, Telnet, rlogin and serial, and supports tabs, tiled sessions, a button bar and command window for sending commands to many sessions at once, keyword highlighting and detailed logging. Automation is a strength: scripts in Python or VBScript can drive sessions, which is common for scripting work on routers and switches. It pairs with SecureFX for file transfer. Licences are perpetual per user, with a chosen period of updates and support, and every release can be evaluated free before buying. One licence works across Windows, macOS and Linux. It is overkill for occasional SSH use, and the interface feels traditional next to modern terminals.
Best for: Network engineers who manage many devices and automate sessions with scripts.
