About Modern CSV

Modern CSV is a desktop editor built only for delimited text files such as CSV, TSV and PSV. It exists because spreadsheet apps like Excel tend to reformat dates, drop leading zeros or choke on very large files, while plain text editors make you count commas. Modern CSV shows the file as a grid, lets you move, duplicate, split and join rows, columns and cells in bulk, and has find and replace with regular expressions, filtering, sorting and deduplication. A read-only mode opens big files quickly with little memory. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, keeps all data on your machine, and imports and exports JSON and XML. The free version has no time limit and covers most editing; a one-time Premium licence (Personal or Business) unlocks extras such as date conversion, transpose, printing, column lookup, statistics and pivot tables. It suits data analysts, developers and anyone who regularly cleans CSV exports before importing them elsewhere.

Best for: People who clean and edit CSV files often and want something safer than Excel.
