About Mos
Mos makes a regular mouse wheel scroll on a Mac with the smooth, momentum-style feel of a trackpad. It intercepts wheel events and turns the coarse steps into interpolated motion, with sliders for step size, speed and duration. Vertical and horizontal scrolling can be smoothed and reversed independently, so you can keep natural scrolling on the trackpad while flipping it for the mouse. Each app can inherit the global settings or get its own profile, which helps when one app feels better without smoothing. Newer versions also bind mouse buttons to actions such as Mission Control, switching Spaces, shortcuts, scripts or opening apps, and they support Logitech buttons over Bolt, Unifying and Bluetooth. Mos runs from the menu bar on macOS 10.13 and later and installs from GitHub or Homebrew. It is free; its source is public on GitHub under a CC BY-NC 4.0 licence, which allows non-commercial reuse but is not an OSI open-source licence. It needs the Accessibility permission to rewrite scroll events.
Best for: Mac users with a non-Apple mouse who find wheel scrolling jerky or want separate scroll directions.
