About BetterTouchTool

BetterTouchTool, built by German developer Andreas Hegenberg for more than 15 years, lets you attach actions to almost any input on a Mac: trackpad and Magic Mouse gestures, mouse buttons, keyboard shortcuts, the Touch Bar, Stream Deck and other macro pads, menu bar items and more. The developer counts over 600 triggers and 600 built-in actions, and actions can be chained, so it doubles as an automation tool. It includes window snapping similar to Magnet, a clipboard manager, a Spotlight-style launcher, and a companion iPhone and iPad app for remote control. It only turns on the features you use, so it stays fairly light. Pricing is a one-off licence: a cheaper standard licence with two years of updates, or a lifetime licence; there is a long free trial and it is also part of Setapp. It runs only on macOS. The trade-off is complexity: the settings window is dense and it can take time to build a setup you like.

Best for: Mac power users who want to remap gestures, mice and keys and automate with them.
