About Mounty for NTFS
Mounty for NTFS is a free menu bar app for Macs that need to write to drives formatted for Windows. macOS can read NTFS drives but not write to them. Older versions of Mounty switched on a hidden read-write option in Apple's own driver; since macOS Ventura removed that, Mounty 2 works as a front end for the open-source NTFS-3G driver running on macFUSE. When you plug in an NTFS drive, the menu icon changes colour and Mounty offers to remount it as writable. Setup takes more steps than paid tools: you install macFUSE and NTFS-3G (the site recommends Homebrew), then approve security prompts and possibly restart.
