About NTFSTool
NTFSTool lets a Mac write to USB sticks and external drives formatted for Windows, which macOS can only read on its own. Plug in an NTFS drive and it mounts with full read and write access. Unlike the older paid drivers, the current version doesn't use a kernel extension, so you don't need Recovery Mode or lowered security settings on Apple silicon Macs. NTFSTool Pro adds automatic mounting, a First Aid repair for drives Windows left in a hibernated state, formatting drives as NTFS, S.M.A.R.T. health status and a speed test. There's a free edition on the Mac App Store for recent macOS versions, and Pro is a one-time purchase with lifetime updates and a refund guarantee. It started as an open-source project on GitHub in 2020 and supports Intel and Apple silicon Macs.
Best for: Mac users who need NTFS write access but don't want to lower security for a kernel extension..
