About OpenShot

OpenShot is a free, open-source video editor designed to be easy to learn. Drag-and-drop editing on unlimited tracks, trimming and slicing, transitions, keyframe animation of position, scale, rotation and opacity, a title editor and 3D animated titles rendered through Blender cover what most hobby projects need. Effects such as chroma key, colour adjustments and blur can be keyframed and stacked on the same clip. It runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, and is translated into many languages. The project is funded by donations and has no paid version. It is often recommended to beginners and schools because the interface is uncluttered, but it is noticeably less stable and slower with large or high-resolution projects than Kdenlive, Shotcut or DaVinci Resolve, and it lacks advanced colour tools, proxies and audio mixing. For simple videos on modest hardware it is a friendly, no-cost starting point.

Best for: Beginners and schools wanting a simple, free, open-source editor.
